The  Pacific Island people cut down trees  to make a waka .They sailed across the Pacific to get to other islands .They followed the birds stars and moon.They looked at the big white cloud ."We have found Aotearoa .There are amazing trees.Let's go tell the others back home."

This is how the first people came to New Zealand .
